Katy Hall: Owner, Director, and Champion of Diversity at SC4 Carpenters Ltd

Katy Hall is an Owner, Director, and Company Secretary of SC4 Carpenters Ltd, a specialist commercial contractor, which she established with Simon Griffiths, Conrad Hall and Julie Griffiths in April 2000. With over 25 years of experience in the construction industry and more than 30 years participating in European programmes related to renewable energy, energy efficiency, and sustainable communities, Katy has been pivotal to the company's financial and regulatory success since its inauguration.

Core Expertise and Responsibilities

As a Director, Katy has overall responsibility for Financial and Regulatory compliance, HR, Wellbeing, ICT, energy efficiency, and sustainability. She leverages her background, which includes working in technology and construction since the 1980s, to drive the company's strategic vision.

Advocacy and Industry Leadership

Katy is a dedicated advocate for equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) within the construction sector, actively challenging traditional barriers. Her commitment to fostering a more inclusive environment focuses particularly on:

• Women in Construction: She serves as a role model, sharing her experience of being a woman in the industry and discussing the positive shift in attitudes over the past two decades.
• Neurodiversity: Katy is a neurodivergent woman who openly shares how her neurodiversity—including strengths like hyperfocus, 3D problem-solving, and finding alternative methodologies—benefits her role and advocates for better support and awareness for other neurodivergent individuals in construction.
• Wider Diversity: She actively promotes diversity through social media, company blogs, and training, covering topics such as celebrating Pride, Black Lives Matter, and promoting mental health and wellbeing for the workforce.

Through open discussion of diversity, Katy celebrates the benefits of neurodivergence and under-represented groups, while advocating for better support, awareness, and flexibility.
