Case Study: Decoration of Luxury Home in Northwood, Middlesex
In Spring 2025, SC4 Decorators completed the painting and extensive wallpapering works at this beautiful luxury home in Northwood, Middlesex for Gullett and Sons Ltd. The new build property replaced a previous home at the address, extending the footprint of the property and adding a basement that incorporates an office, games room, gym and home cinema, and extending under the garden terrace at the rear.
About the customer and project
Gullett and Sons Building Contractors, who celebrated their business centenary in 2023, are a contracting business based in ‘Metroland’ – the suburban heartland of North London adjoining the Metropolitan line and North Circular Road. In August 2024, we were approached by Gullett to quote for this project, as we had previously worked on a project for them in Beaconsfield in 2017-18, and they were aware of similar projects that we had completed for Arcadia (such as [this executive home in Wimbledon]).
Work on site commenced in October 2024 and concluded six months later, in April 2025.
How we helped
Our job was to supply high quality paints and lining paper, to prepare and paint the walls throughout the four-floor property, paint the ceilings, caulk and paint the windows and woodwork, and wallpaper throughout to a high standard.
The challenge
As a premium project, the work required an unflinching commitment to quality and standards, as well as efficient work to meet the customer’s agreed project milestones. Many of our decorators have established experience working on high-end, luxury properties such as this, so we were able to provide the customer with diligent, experienced decorators, and an excellent management team.
The intricate nature of the project demanded exceptional attention to detail. Our team meticulously prepared all surfaces, using high-grade paper to create a flawless base for both paint and extensive, high-value wallpaper applications. This preparation was critical to achieve the pristine and uniform finish required for a property of this calibre.
Managing the project timeline alongside other trades also required precise coordination. We implemented a phased work schedule, liaising daily with the Gullett and Sons site manager to ensure our decorators could progress efficiently without causing disruption. This collaborative approach was essential for completing our work within the six-month timeframe, allowing us to meet the client’s programme and exceed their expectations.
The triple-height atrium presented another logistical challenge for our team. Safe access required the erection of internal tower platforms, managed by our certified team members (see photos below). Working at height, our decorators applied specialist long-roll wallpapers and paint finishes with absolute precision, creating seamless joins and a perfect finish, even in the most difficult-to-reach areas of the home.
Outcomes
We were extremely proud of the high-quality finish achieved by our team, and the way we were able to achieve and exceed the standards set out by the client’s brief. Garrett and Sons were happy with our work and we look forward to working with them again on similar projects.
